Good news for the street food lovers, soon they will get FSSAI certified street food. Food Safety and Standard Authority of India has started a program “Clean Street Food Hub”. This is a unique initiative taken by FSSAI to ensure the quality, cleanliness and hygiene of Street foods and certify them as well.
Now you can eat your beloved, mouth watering and delicious Samosa,Paani poori, Chaat, Paav bhaaji, Vada,Idly, Masala dosa etc. without any health and hygiene worry. Many famous food clusters in all over the country will be audited by the joint drive of FSSAI and State Authorities responsible for cleanliness. Till now 144 famous street food clusters has been identified for this audit across the country.
Recently a famous food cluster Kankaria Lake area of Gujarat’s Ahmadabad city has become the first FSSAI certified street food cluster under this initiative. It is a well known picnic and tourist spot for the public, so this certification has become a great advantage for vendors.
This approach of FSSAI is to promote the Indian street food delicacies, draw more people to this multi cultured food clusters, so that thousands of people whose livelihood depend on this business well get more benefit. Objective of the FSSAI are
- To improve the infrastructure of these famous street food clusters.
- To ensure and upgrade the safety, security and hygiene of street foods.
- To encourage more people to consume street food and promote tourism to generate more revenue.
- To promote the street foods globally and enhance the overall quality of these clusters at the world level.
Street foods are the heritage of old delicacies, culture. A lots of people depend on this for their livelihood. These clusters are the combination of multiple cultures, foods, cuisines and people really enjoy these multi cuisine foods at a place. Earlier FSSAI has ordered the big players of food delivery Zomato, Swiggy, Uber eats etc. to delist those vendors who don’t have the food license.
